“Amdavad is divided in two parts by Sabarmati and although I live in new part of the city, I feel Ahmedabad breathes Amadavadiyat in its old parts. Sabarmati attracted both Gandhi and crafts people and these two are close to my life and work. The mother and daughter who are working, selling and creating represent Ahmedabad for me. I have tried to layout my work in old miniature style where you see the buildings and river from top angle but human beings from front. ‘People of Ahmedabad’ inspire me. You have very poor living in mill areas and very rich living in Shahibaug and sometimes they rub shoulders at the Ravivari market or meet with their kites in Ahmedabad’s skyline on Uttarayan. Old monuments, Pols and Bazaars are what makes Ahmedabad and will hopefully remain that way for at least a few more years!“
