This limited edition serigraph is part of a series titled ‘The Ahmedabad Serigraphs’ which consist of 33 serigraphs done by 33 different artists each serigraph is a window to the city, as seen from the eyes of the artist, each of who has presented a central idea of Ahmedabad as testimony of their feeling for the city.

Ame Amdavadi, has faint graphics of the map showing the Income tax and the Ashram road area, as its background. Layered with the faint figurative of M. K. Gandhi and the three monkeys, those represent the Gandhian philosophy, but are used satirically here. Here these monkeys are shutting each others’ eyes, mouth and ears, instead of their own, symbolic of the mindset of people of modern times, as they all want to advice each other, but not analyze their own selves. The numbers on the bottom left showing ‘Rs. 80’ is symbolic of the money minded nature of the people of Ahmedabad. This work is a classic example of juxtaposition of random unrelated elements, yet all of them representing the subject in one way or another.
