This limited edition serigraph is part of a series titled ‘The Ahmedabad Serigraphs’ which consist of 33 serigraphs done by 33 different artists each serigraph is a window to the city, as seen from the eyes of the artist, each of who has presented a central idea of Ahmedabad as testimony of their feeling for the city.

Ganesh Bari, is a compilation of elements hand-picked from the folklore and legends of Ahmedabad and the Sultanate dynasty. Individually talking about the elements, firstly the bottles and the saint inside one of these bottles (lower half of the canvas) and the impressions of one of the Gates of Ahmedabad, is picked from the tales of saint Manek Baba having miraculous powers and subsequently the building of famous ‘Ganesh Bari’, a structural portion of the Walled city built by Ahmed Shah. One of the legends also speak about how Goddess Laxmi was barred from exiting the Gates of Ahmedabad, to prevent prosperity from leaving this city. Here, the portrait of a woman is of Goddess Laxmi, further highlighting it with a lotus on her forehead. Inside the arch of this ‘Ganesh Bari’ are the carvings of Sidi Saiyyed Jali, which is symbolic of the cultural richness and prosperity of this city. ‘Ganesh Bari’ is a juxtaposition of various elements that aptly depict the making of Ahmedabad.
