Viresh Desai

Viresh Desai, born in 1955 at Junagadh, finished his high school from Manavadar, Junagadh and moved to Vadodara for his graduation and post graduation. After completing his graduation in Painting, winning a gold medal for the same and his post graduation also in Painting, he moved to Surat and joined Garden Silk Mills, working as a textile designer for almost four years. After that, he started working at the Museum Department for the Government of Gujarat and worked for almost 34 years, and finally retired in 2013.

Over the years, he participated in many shows, such as the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society’s Art Exhibition in New Delhi; at Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi; at U. P. State Lalit Kala Akademi in Lucknow; All India Exhibition of Prints ‘Graphics 79’ at Chandigarh and many more. He has also won several awards, such as the Art Critics Award in Graphics, Artist’s Centre in Bombay in 1979; First prize in Graphics at the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi in 1978 and 79 and many more.

He lives and works in Rajkot.
