Suresh Sheth

Dr. Suresh Sheth (b. 1938) received his Doctorate degree in Folk Arts under the guidance of eminent artist, late Prof. K. G. Subramanyan from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda in 1981. After post graduation he held several solo shows. His paintings are in private and public collections in India and abroad. His major contribution lays in his book based on his thesis “The arts and crafts of the Kharak Peasant community of Saurashtra” in 2012. He has also been an art critic, writing for the Times of India for almost ten years. Sheth’s contribution has been recognized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. He was awarded with “Gaurav Puruskar” by Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy. The Kharak community honoured him for his research work on this particular cast.

He has been teaching Art history and Aesthetics at Sheth C. N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad.
